There are several religions around the world. The issue of religions is a sensitive matter for people as it involves sacred values, identity, and strong beliefs of people. Folk religions comprise various forms and expressions of religion that are distinct from the official doctrines and practices of organized religions. This group comprises the Chinese folk religions overlapping with Taoism, the indigenous Philippines religions and many other local traditional religions.

Religious practices are integrated broadly into regional cuisines. Religious dietary guidelines contribute to the preservation of culinary traditions and cultural heritage. They are also foster a sense of tradition and identity. Religions emphasize the healing and the wellbeing properties of food and their ability to promote physical and spiritual well-being.
